Research interests

Agricultural intensification during the last decades has led to a serious decline in farmland biodiversity and has negatively affected related ecosystem functions. Main causes are the transition of natural and semi-natural habitats into cropland and the intensification of agricultural practices.

Therefore my main research interest concentrates on the influences of agricultural intensification on farmland biodiversity and related ecosystem functions. In particular, I’m mainly focusing on small mammals (mice and shrews), larger mammals (hares, raccoons, wild boars), farmland birds and invertebrates (carabid beetles and spiders) and their ecosystem functions, like seed predation and dispersal and movement ecology in relation to landscape structure, within-field management and habitat composition.
